Memoirs of an HD Caregiver

Huntington's disease is a family disease... The person with HD, the children of a parent, the siblings, the spouses, the family members, all become the caregivers in some way. I am the child of a parent who had HD, the sibling to a brother with JHD, and a caregiver. Huntington's disease may affect my family, my life, and my day to day, but because of it I am stronger than I have ever been, and braver for it.

I am a stay at home caregiver along with my mother, we take care of my father and brother who have Huntington's disease. HD is a neurodegenerative brain disorder that causes a person to lose the ability to control their body (speak, talk, and walk) and lose their ability to live independently of others care. I an an HD Advocate, Clinical Diplomat, NYA Vice President, Affiliate Chair, Caregiver, and recently tested negative for Huntington's myself. My whole life and world revolve around HD and I wouldn't have it any other way. It is time to stand up and speak out about HD!
